Text is the new talk

July 29, 2011

We don’t talk anymore, we text.

Texting has not only become one of the major ways through which we communicate, but it has changed the way we speak and understand each other. More so between teenagers than adults, conversation will include abbreviations or acronyms commonly used in text language like “probs”, “defs”, and even “lol”.

Teenagers between the ages of 14-17  make up a huge target market that should not be overlooked. They are also the biggest texters in the age pool. Given that the average teenage girl texts up to 100 times a day, there’s no doubt that texting is one marketing tool that can easily be adopted and manipulated.

Charlie White explains with a mashable infographic how texting has taken over the teen world. No wonder there are so many texting campaigns aimed not only at teenagers but to a broader age spectrum.

Think about how text marketing can improve your salon or spa’s marketing strategy… it may just be the way to go!
